I tried couple other karate academies before deciding to stick with Legacy 2 years ago. That was the best decision I made! I have noticed a big difference in my used to be very shy kid. Both my kids love their classes. Grand Master V is very helpful, flexible with the schedules and professional. Would highly recommend.

My children were students at Legacy Karate for 7 years. We started coming because one of my three children is autistic and was having a hard time staying focused and on task at school. We do not live in the area and my husband and I figured if we were going to make the 35 minute drive we may as well sign all three kids up. After all, we heard Grandmaster Versland was the best karate instructor around! Everything we heard was true. It was well worth the drive 3 times a week for all those years. Grandmaster V made my kids feel welcome from the moment we walked in. He walked them through everything and was so kind and patient with them. He instilled a strong work ethic in them. It wasn’t always easy. Grandmaster V made sure that they would have to earn every belt and was not just going to hand it to them. He made them strong, body and mind! The thing I loved the most was that he treated my autistic child the same as everyone else in his class. All three of my kids went from average B and C students to straight A’s! My oldest is now a junior in college and is on the deans list at her university. My middle child is a freshman in college and is also on the deans list and my youngest is a junior in high school and is a straight A student. If it weren’t for Legacy Karate, Grandmaster V and his entire staff, I don’t think they would be as successful as they are today. We now consider Legacy a part of our family!

Legacy Karate is second to none in my book. Both me and my son attended classes with Grand Master Versland for years. He was our teacher but he also became a good friend. He cares deeply for his students and tries to help them succeed not only in karate but in life.

My daughter loves this place! Grand Master V is awesome. He keeps the kids engaged and really cares about their development. The other black belts that support his class are attentive and know their stuff. Would highly recommend.

Grand Master Versland and his staff are absolutely the best! My daughter started there 7 years ago at age 8 and her experience has been amazing! She really enjoys going to class. There is much more to karate than learning the forms...there’s learning respect, integrity, getting along with others, how to persevere, and learn from your mistakes. The environment there is supportive, inclusive, and encouraging, both from the staff and amongst the kids themselves. The kids that go there learn a ton of things that will benefit them for their entire lives.

I have 2 children train at Legacy since they were each 4 years old and both are now black belts at Legacy. I find the Master V and his staff to be excellent instructors and very good with young children. My children were always prepared for tests and excited to go to class. I would recommend his karate gym to all those looking to learn martial arts.

I've been a student of Grand Master V since 2001 and since then have trained at multiple different gyms (due to travel for college and work). However, this is the one I continue to keep coming back to. Until recently moving again, I even chose to travel over half an hour each way just to train here. Whether you're a child looking for something exciting, a teenager looking to pick up some self-defense skills, or an adult trying to find an alternative workout plan, this place can offer all of that and more.

My son is 14 and has attended classes at Legacy Karate since he was 4 years old. He is very happy and still loves to go to class. Master V is a great teacher and great with kids of all ages. I highly recommend Legacy Karate.
