LEWIS ARMY MUSEUM IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19. Reopening has been delayed in accordance with guidance from JBLM AND Washington State. To protect our staff, volunteers, partners and visitors and minimize the community spread of COVID-19/Coronavirus, the Lewis Army Museum is closed to the public. Please check our FB and webpage (www.LewisArmyMuseum.com) for updates.
Due to Health and Safety considerations from the COVID-19 pandemic the Lewis Army Museum has postponed it’s summer public events including our annual Living History Weekend (1-2 August). The Living History Weekend, along with our other public summer events, will be rescheduled for new dates as soon as large public gatherings are authorized by Joint Base Lewis-McChord and the State of Washington. The Lewis Army Museum has updated its public access policy. In the past, visiting the museum has required going to the Visitor’s Center on Exit 120 to obtain a visitor’s pass.
Effective immediately, the museum is accessible to the public without a visitor’s pass. To gain access, please follow the instructions as follows: 1. Take Exit 119 off of I-5. 2. Turn right onto Dupont-Steilacoom Rd. 3. Turn right at the gate (first right beyond small commercial area and hotel) and follow the gravel road up to the parking lot. 4. Park in the parking lot and call the museum by cell phone at 253-967-7206. 5. You will be escorted through the gate to the museum on foot.
When your visit has concluded, you will be escorted back to the parking lot.
We are excited to be more accessible to the public in order to share the Fort Lewis story with everyone.
