CHAT - Life Changing Speech Therapy

When our son was one years old he taught himself to read, he knew the alphabet frontwards and backwards, he was obsessed with letters and numbers. Like most I would spend my days scouring the internet looking for anything describing what we saw in our son. I found a video on YouTube of someone interviewing a woman named Phyllis Kupperman. She was talking about Hyperlexia and the therapy that she had developed specifically for working with these kids. For years I struggled for my sons therapist to understand that traditional autism therapies did not seem to be the right fit for him. I now knew that there was a therapy for my son, but sadly the clinic was in Illinois, a state we do not live in. I reached out to CHAT in hopes that I would be able to at the very least talk to someone about my son and that maybe they could help lead me in the right direction to work with him. Not only did Ciara speak with me at length, but also told me that they would be happy to consult with our sons SLP where we live! Ciara and I also Zoom once a month. I’m able to let her know how our son is doing and since we are homeschooling due to the pandemic, I’m able to go over what I’m teaching my son. Thanks to Ciara, I have the confidence I need when working with my son. Working with CHAT is not only life changing for the child but for the entire family. I am able to take the knowledge Ciara bestows upon me to help my son succeed in every aspect of his life.
