Had an altercation with my neighbor tonight. The neighbor came over threatening me. My daughter got scared and called the cops. When the police showed up they were condescending and completely useless. Way to keep the peace. Nice to see our tax dollars hard at work. Oddly enough they made a reference to “policing the grass” well at least someone is policing something in this town. \u200d️

I called the Longmont police department on a day that was about 5 degrees outside. My neighbors children were in her SUV parked outside in the car. The car was running and the kids, with no adult present were playing with the radio, the steering wheel and the horn for an entire hour. The oldest kid in the car may have been 10. I called the police because this is completely dangerous. The kids were unsupervised messing with a running car in a sloped driveway. The kid could have accidentally put the car in reverse and the car could have rolled back into the street or something. I watched these two cop cars pull up and this cop walk up to the car and Peer into the car only to turn around and get back into the police car and drive off!! What the heck? They didn’t even talk to the parents to see why kids are unattended in a running car outside! I guess maybe the cops thought the kids were big enough to be in a car unsupervised but still, what if the mom was unconscious and the kids stayed in the car for hours wasting gas? That’s when I lost faith in the LPD. I called child protective services too and they didn’t do anything either. No wonder kids are so easily abused and neglected because past a certain age, authorities don’t care about them. I also want to not the police department have officers in the schools and they are horrible as well and tend to villainize students and are incredibly rude. For my anonymity I can’t give too much away but they are horrible.

The few encounters that I’ve had with Longmont police have been very professional and they have been extremely courteous. I have found them to be very respectful and have always been very respectful to them. I have lived in Longmont over 12 years and I’m glad they’re here to protect and serve.
