My family desperately needs help. We lost our home, good credit, and so much more due to COVID. PUD handed us to CAP to try to assist us with an over 1000 debt with the power company which accumulated during COVID because I lost 100% of my work and my finance's hours were also reduced greatly. We were told that they have plenty of financial support because the government gave them a grant. We spent weeks obtaining social security cards, sending in piles of personal information, and doing phone tag to try to get assistance. Hours and hours of time and expense that we cannot get back. Only to get told that we don't qualify because my fiancé makes too much, which is absurd because he doesn't make very much and gets about 30% of his money taken for child support and has had reduced hours. I can't understand how we can be losing everything and have to sell our stuff just to make basic payments like car payments, and not qualify for assistance. We needed this help. They wanted us to again, send in paycheck stubs and proof of literally everything in our financial lives, for the 3rd time, despite nothing changing for us. Why would I waste more time we don't have? We need to figure out how to pay bills so we can find a home! We are cold and depressed and tired of having to go place to place to place. We now have survival expenses and storage unit expenses. It would have been really nice if we were shown even a little bit of kindness and got this assistance that we needed so badly and worked hard for weeks to earn. I jumped through so many hoops to get the information needed and have had little to no employment since the pandemic started. We had no debt before, and now are swamped in 7,000 of debt and bad credit. Nobody wants to rent to us or put power in our names because of it. We feel very hopeless. So if you know any kind of resources that actually will help us, please! Us and our kids need help really bad.
