Our mom had been in the Assisted Living wing for 10 years which had been challenging at times but with the ability as her family to be part of her care it had been working. During this past year new challenges were faced but Sprenger of Mishawaka has not learned, made appropriate changes, kept up on personal communication, made correct decisions, brought in additional needed assistance which resulted in our mom's premature passing. She was moved to the skilled nursing wing continually testing negative the first part of December when several active COVID cases were going on and passed the day after Christmas. They failed her.

I am very concerned for the future of this facility. It was great when my Mother moved in. Suddenly it changed. There is very little Nursing personnel, 1 person to fix 3 buildings....electrical issues, rooms are unready, very few people working, medicine is dispensed whenever they have someone to do it. The permanent hiring sign was alarming.Employees are leaving for jobs paying less money. There is a Management issue as profit rules the day. Make sure you can be on premises to oversee your loved one here....its beautiful, but very little help for them.

Grande Village is a mess. Every year they have had a new DON and administrator. There is no continuity in management. The saddest part is the actual nursing staff, both licensed nurses and STNA's are excellent. It's revolving management and at times people who are not qualified to be in the positions they are in that have literally destroyed what GV should have been. There is a corporate DON and recent administrator who berated staff for things they claimed did not get done yet it was the corporate DON and administrator who did not staff the facility or replace call offs. One Friday night last August all the STNA's called off on a Friday night and the administrator knew this but made no attempt to replace staff. Is it going to take a real tragedy to occur at GV like a patient death followed by criminal charges for Michael Sprenger to wake up or do the Sprengers just simply not care? I worked there for 10 years and never missed work so I can say in all honesty it seemed the owners were far removed from everything that went on there. I have happily moved on and will not work in a situation like that again. It was dangerous to the nurses and their licenses. When you have two Halls of patients and your management loads you with two or three admissions during your evening med pass, brings in TPN and peritoneal dialysis with no staff, changes policies that have been in place only for their convenience, or hires the top boss who has no couth or knowledge and experience, the mess just was and is bigger. My Mother in Law even had a skilled care stay in 2016 and could not believe what a disaster it was there. Just a progressive mess that gets worse every year. When the administrator makes fun of an elderly receptionist working there because she fell and injured herself in the hallway what does that say about customer service? Just terrible.
