his is based on our Saturday breakfast during the Memorial Day weekend. We hadn't been to The Starting Gate for many years, but we recalled their breakfasts of the past (all were good except for the last one) & we decided to give it another go. This day was a good day to come back because they were just busy enough. We noticed that they remodeled portions of the large room but it still maintained the shaggy dog charm of a local hangout, which it most certainly is. We ordered different Mexican style breakfasts & both were a success! Portion, price, taste, all good. My boyfriend was happy with his Bloody Mary special. Coffee was strong & hot & our server was attentive with refills & checking back often. If you're into Steelers Football, comedy & themes The Starting Gate is big on these. While we were there a sports trivia raffle was underway. We'll go back for breakfast again. So far so good.

Down right was playing. I like this place so much but they need to run the air conditioning. Otherwise it is too hot. I would have stayed longer and spent more if it was cooler. Left early because it was too hot.
This is a great little hangout. Good drinks, good food, good entertainment. But it hasn't been open since COVID hit, and it doesn't seem like they've tried to reopen, even though most other places are doing lite reopenings. They certainly have enough parking lot space to do limited outdoor dining. Even in the back lot. But then again, their entertainment seems to be their cash cow to bring in customers other than the regulars. It would be nice if someone had some inside information of whether or not there are plans of re-opening or permanent closure.
I love The Starting Gate!! This place is so special. On any weekend night, you can find a very nice mix of people in ages from 20s to 60s, enjoying themselves, dancing the night away to excellent live music! We have been traveling up from San Diego since 2007 just to party here! 3 cheers for the Starting Gate!!
I admire this restaurant! They have high class food, their menu is varied, The chef in that place is a specialist, I enjoy very much trying all their food. The dishes are always fresh and tasty, the service towards the visitors is agreeable. I visit often this place and I was never discontended. I highly recommend it.
