The exhibits rotates maybe 3-5 times/year. The emphasis is on local history and talent. One of the big draws for all ages is the wonderful miniature working display of \old Los Altos\ with lights, bells, whistles and the long lost train that traveled through town twice a day

The museum is 8200 square feet with two public floors of exhibition space. The upper floor is devoted to the history of Los Altos. The main floor features special exhibits. I've been there twice, the first time to see the history of Silicon Valley documented and the second time to view an excellent exhibit on Joseph Eichler and Eichler homes.

Los Altos was created to support Southern Pacific Railroad. this historical museum is good place to get familiar with past Los Altos as railroad town. main Exhibition is located on the second floor , where first floor is used for special exhibitions. Museum has good backyard that is popular place for weddings.

We walked to the Los Altos History Museum for a visit one afternoon. Our four year old granddaughter liked the exhibits and had a great time exploring. It was a nice way to spend an hour.

Twice yearly new exhibits and on the upper floor a brief history of the Los Altos area. It's great for little kids that love trains - they have a model train upstairs that runs on the push of a button.
