First time I came here was 1994. Fell in love right away. I bought 50 worth of B movies. Their music selection is insane. I like the staff here. Parking is challenging so get there early. I always have a great music shopping experience when I come. Happiness Amoeba.

Best record store ever! It's really big and organized so you don't have to be searching for hours for that one record you want. The workers are also really helpful. They helped me find the FKA Twigs CD I was looking for within seconds!
About 20 years ago, this was the go to spot in Berkeley and San Francisco for CDs, cassettes and videocassetes. Today, streaming services and amazon and eBay are killing off mom and pop record stores left and right. Still, there's always that rare DVD title that's hard to find that you might be able to find here. The reemergence of vinyl looks to be the new breath of life that could end up saving this place.
I would hate to see anything happen to my favorite local music store. I can't even count how many music binges I satisfied here. How many times I've "needed" something and found my fix on the floors of Amoeba. Seriously talented staff at this place as well, you can help you if you need it.
This one is better than the one in CA. Gives off a better vibe... Also.. (and more importantly) the seem to have a better selection.. The actually have those hard to find CD's that you are looking for.
Obviously Amoeba is pretty famous in the music world for selling vinyl, CDs, etc. I've been to the one in LA and the LA one is a lot bigger, though the SF location is by no means small. Theres a very very extensive selection of all different sorts of music, a much larger selection than most other record stores that I've been in.
That's pretty much what happens any time I walk into an Amoeba. I lived in LA for about three years and frequented the Hollywood location. This Amoeba isn't quite as good as the Hollywood one but it's still pretty damn good. After being disappointed by the Berkeley location I was relived by this location.
Music stores have been such a big part of my life that I've spent a long time reconciliating their downfall. Yes, I know there is a whole host of reasons for this, but still...
