This is an incredible bookstore with so much heart. They have a wide selection of diverse authors, and their poetry section is extensive, easy to navigate, and amazing. They also publish their own books which are fantastic such as the Rad Women series. We need more bookstores like this one!

Inspiring show of creativity. Carefully curated mix of art books and zines, with varying degrees of subversion and artistry. Displayed well. Helpfully attended to. Satisfy your curiosity and stop in.
Despite these positives, being a left-leaning establishment leads to some bias in their choice of inventory (try finding books on economics in there which challenge Marx and Keynes for example). Also, the prices here are no lower than any other brick-and-mortar store selling new books. There is neither a \sale\ nor a \used book\ section, contradicting their populist vibe.
If you want to be like Kerouac for a day, then this is the place. I can physically feel how I felt when I was in this bookstore. It's just... Otherwordly.
It's the most historical bookstore in Los Angels carrying the memories of Los Angels in the 20th and 21st century. From gold rush , to tech boom, from Family Books Inc carried a great variety of genres of literatures depicting history , photography , fictions and poetry.
