What an amazing resting place! There's so much beauty there and I know all the cemetery residents love all the people traffic. This is absolutely what I love about LA! We traveled around to visit some of the stars and did get to see so many favorites, like Don Adams, Mel Blanc, Douglas Fairbanks, Hattie Mc Daniel, and Mickey Rooney, and the list goes on and on. And, as many that live close by were jogging, power walking, and strolling through the graves; that huge iconic Hollywood sign in the distance just added to the finishing touches. What an enjoyable day! I haven't taken the tour yet, or ventured back up for the movie night, but, we will. They've got beautiful peacocks that they let roam the graveyard at night. Only in LA. :) It's the most captivating experience and it's a must if your in Santa Monica.

Hollywood Forever is both a place and a state of mind, and this is the place where so many have made true on that notion and call it their permanent home. From Hollywood's first bonafide blockbuster movie star, Douglas Fairbanks, to great rock and roll legends of our own time, like Chris Cornell - the familiar names which rest here eternally is too long to list. Visiting here is a peaceful and respectful experience. The staff welcomes all, you are free to document your moment on camera. This is Hollywood after all. I used to spend a lot of time at Fairbanks Lawn while working on a script about his life. When Chris Cornell died we went a few days in a row because it was the only way we could cope with it emotionally. This magical cemetery is not a place of sorrow and somber, but a reflection and celebration of the lives lived. You will forget you are right in the middle of the LA concrete jungle, and you can quietly commune with the souls who call it home and the swans that keep them company. All these great lives made the most of life and walked these raucous streets surrounding us, but now they truly rest in peace. It would be the highest honor to one day join them, but it's a long and legendary waiting list.

I had the difficult decision of deciding where to lay my beautiful 18 yr old daughter to rest. It is obviously something I never dreamt of discussing with her. I have never been fond of cemeteries as they always felt so sad to me. My daughter was such an amazing person and was environmentally conscious. I heard about memorial Forests where you could be laid to rest and grow as a tree. I knew immediately that is what my daughter would want. What I wasn’t expecting was how gorgeous the grounds at Hollywood Forever are. It felt like a secret garden within a busy city, and the energy was so positive, peaceful and full of love. Adela helped me every step of the way, being so kind and always quick to respond to me. The day of the ceremony was perfect and the funeral director and all involved were so helpful and kind. This is truly a magical place!

Hollywood Forever Cemetery is the final resting place of many Hollywood greats. This is a large, beautiful and scenic cemetery that takes you back in time. You will need a map to locate the many legends of the silver screen, and the gift shop has maps and items for sale. They are very helpful. Photos are allowed, but not video. A very peaceful place.
