We love record shopping and so when we saw Amoeba music we knew where our first stop in The Haight was going to be! We visited the Sunset blvd spot last year while in Los Angeles and saw Corinne Bailey Rae do a show there! The San Francisco establishment did not disappoint! This is record heaven and we discovered some great finds at reasonable prices! One can literally get lost in this place for hours!

Tony, the turntable specialist is AMAZING. Extremely knowledgeable and customer-service driven. I've shopped here very regularly in the past, but my recent experience with Tony has inspired me to bring all my record-related purchases to Amoeba. Plus, gotta support the local businesses!

Wide selection of new & used. Prices are great. Super friendly staff. As with all large used stores, pot luck what's in stock.

If you visit one record store in Los Angeles, make it Record Surplus. There are many reasons. Price and selection are top notch. The staff is always kind, welcoming and considerate. They will talk music with you, answer questions, and walk you over to the artist or section you are looking for. The store is family owned and operated like you are in their home. This is a mission driven operation, aimed at celebrating music, providing an honest service and setting the tone for an enjoyable and thoughtful shopping experience. Can not recommend this place enough.
