UCLA saved my mom’s life with a lung transplant and I am forever grateful to all of the medical staff. They go above and beyond for their patients...every single person I have encountered there is very special. They are knowledgeable, compassionate, professional and have hearts of gold. 7ICU and 7West nurses and care partners are the kindest people I have ever met. Thank you RR UCLA!

This hospital killed my dad. My dad had a hemorrhagic stroke, and according to the treatment team at RR 7ICU, the recommended surgery to release the pressure from my dads head was a risk we needed to take to save his life. My dad was diabetic and the surgery made him less responsive and only prolonged his suffering. From the providers perspective, the surgery was giving my dad another chance at life but it's outcome was unpredictable. The doctors kept recommending one surgery after another and no one knew if he was going to get better. Every call i received was from some resident or fellow who just wanted to keep my dad breathing. They did not care what impact it was having on our family and we only served to provide consent. In the end, the doctors could only give us the option to slowly watch him die or to keep him on life support for the rest of his life. They did not improve his care at all and only gave us false hope. We watched as my dad slowly passed away. I wish we would have never heeded the warning to go ahead with the surgery. If my dad died naturally from the stroke, we would have preferred this over the treatment plan that only served to prolong his suffering. Soon after my dads death, we found his healthcare directive. In it, he clearly stated that in any situation where he was incapacitated, unable to move or speak, he would have preferred to die quickly and peacefully. My mom had to see my dad brain dead and it broke her heart and mine! After everything that happened, I hope your family doesn't experience what I experienced at Ronald Reagan. They were ethically inexperienced and it's astonishing to think that people so smart could know so little about human emotion and could care so little about family. The clinic manager should take time to go over the basics of medical ethics and proper protocol when performing procedures that could lead to long term suffering for the patient and his/her loved ones.

(something that REALLY helps my emotional state while I'm sitting there getting my teeth drilled - painlessly I might add!) Now to the really good stuff! Every room has windows and a great view Everything is up to date, it feels like a personal experience, and again, I can't stress this more - I TRUST them. That's huge for me and it should be for everyone else too.
