I visited the Cascine Mill with a group of science educators as a part of our environmental education cohort. It was an amazing experience and Simon and Michelle are clearly passionate about the history and preservation of the mill and surrounding property. Their end goal is to create a space that serves as a park and education center while the mill and surrounding historic buildings are being restored. Definitely give them a call to see things! Can’t wait to watch how things progress and I’ll definitely be back to visit with my family.
Is this place still open? I tried to pay a visit and my GPS routed me to a private road. My ancestors were enslaved at Cascine (they’re Perrys). Cascine needs to remain open as a historical space of remembrance.
