Unfortunately, I was never able to meet two great caregivers to my mom. However, on my last visit to my mom with her great granddaughter, granddaughter. and her husband she had nothing but great things to say about Cindy Helfrich and Kathy Wise. Their patience and listening to my moms needs was remarkable. My mom told me how she went on and on about her greatgrandbaby Scarlett and how she showed her the pictures she had of Scarlett. She mentioned how intently they listened and commented on how beautiful she is. I am so appreciative of these special moments with my mom. I am also a nurse and know how importance of the connections we make with our patients. It can make all the difference in the world to our patients and their families. As I reflect on my mother and her last days, I am comforted in the fact that she had two amazing care givers who provided empathetic care to my mom and my family. I feel very blessed that my mom was able to spend the last days of her life in the comfort of her own home with exceptional care by the hospice team. They ensured her comfort and dignity. Who could ask for anything more than exceptional care by care givers that allowed my wonderful mom to spend her final moments surrounded by those who loved her. I have been a nurse for over 30 years and in a leadership position for over 15 years I respect and appreciate my profession for what we provide to our patients and their families. I will be eternally thankful for both Cindy and Kathy for their loving and empathetic care to my mother and my family. Please share this message with Cindy and Kathy, And Thank you for the Centra Hospice team for being those in need. YOU ARE AN AMAZING GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS. Very Awesome down to earth employees plus their service are excellent! They really took good care of my mother with me! Mrs. Elaine was my mother’s nurse my mother & Me loved great personality plus her intelligence, also the cre in her heart for my mother & Me.
DO NOT CHOOSE THIS HOSPICE PROVIDER IF YOU OR YOUR LOVED ONE WANT TO REMAIN COMFORTABLE DURING THE DYING PROCESS. My dear aunt recently died of lung cancer, pneumonia, and COPD. She suffered for days because Centra Hospice refused to listen to our family. Centra Hospice would only give her 5mg of morphine (the lowest possible dose) if she had a breathing attack or if she was in severe pain and even then she had to ask for it. When we pointed out to the hospice nurse that she was too weak to talk much less call for a nurse, she suggested a button on her chest. In order to keep my aunt as comfortable as possible, members of my family took turns at her bedside and requested the morphine every two hours for her round the clock. We requested that the morphine be given to my aunt on a schedule instead of as needed so my family could get some much needed rest during this emotionally exhausting time. The hospice nurse from Centra entered my aunt's room at the nursing home and stated that the doctor would not schedule the medicine. She didn't bother assessing my aunt, reviewing her records, talking to the staff at the nursing home, or even asking us why we felt it was necessary before this decision was made. I do not feel that the dying patient or their family should have to constantly fight for comfort. Hospice is supposed to support the family, prepare them for the dying process, and above all keep the dying patient comfortable. Centra hospice failed to provide this.
Fall always reminds me of my mom and my dear friends who prepared an early birthday celebration for her because we didn't think she would live to see her 98th b-day in December. She enjoyed every minute of the attention and also got to enjoy her real 98th birthday. I thank Centra Hospice for that! Centra Hospice helped my mom for 9 months! Kept her comfortable, kept guiding us through the new challenges we seemed to face all too often, and even helped with arrangements for traveling on 2 occasions so she could continue to do what she loved to do. When we needed them most Centra Hospice was there. Thank you to all the staff for your dedication to serving your patients and their families. We couldn't have kept her at home without your support! I'll always remember how amazed my mom that she was not getting a bill...she'd laugh and say I should have signed up for this years ago! Mom definitely lived longer being at home with family. Thank you!
Very poorly ran business! My brother called triage the morning he found blood all over our dad's face & in his diaper & was told to call back if it got worse! I call an hour later when I got there & was told they'd send someone right away...3 hours later!! This place is a joke! We only had one decent experience. I expected much more from such a large name.
