This was the best camping experience I've ever had. There is very little to no noise except the wind, birds, and water. The sky is beautiful, and the scenery is great. The lands are massive and provide plenty of places to camp, hunt, or whatever. I went winter camping at one of the camp sites and stayed for a few days, and it was perfect. Only problem I had was rain on the lalast day, but thats fine. Be sure to be ready for dirt/gravel roads, and bring plenty of water with you, even for cleaning. When you are camping in hunting season be sure to wear orange vests or hats. Also, bring tick repellant, there aren't much during the winter, I only caught one on me when using thw spray, it was probably on my dog. Be sure to bring an offline map just in case, but I had service for most of it. Another thing, be sure to stay warm if you are going during the winter, and bring an emergency jumpstart battery, if your car battery doesn't start well in freezing temps then you will be out of luck. I'm glad I got one for Christmas or I would've been stuck there. Be sure to clean up after yourself and don't leave too much of an impact on the environment.

The Oconee River Campground was clean and nice. Great view of the boat launch at my end campsite. It had a lantern pole, fire ring and picnic table and a tent pad. The toilets were pretty far away from the campsite. It only had 6 to 8 sites and only one placement for toilets at the entrance. The entrance from the main road did not indicate there was camping there. Once I drove in, the sign read, 'Road Ends' but still no indication of a campground. I would only have known because of the website I reviewed before heading there. It was first come, no reservations so there could be a chance it could be full. It has a remote sort of feeling there. The sites were spaced well and felt private.

I was really surprised. I think all my family gasped as we walked in the cottage. It was clean and very nice. More than we expected! We were in cottage 20 and that one you can bring 2 pets, there was no smell in the cottage. I would not recommend small Children at this cottage due to it would be a long drop if the child fell into the water, just a concern for me, but they have other cottages and grounds to camp. Great Place to relax! P.S. Our cottage was equipped with dishes so it's up to you if you want to bring your own

Once you find a spot...It's awesome. I wish the water was cleaner but free and primitive is what I wanted. Thanks park ranger of Oconee River!!
