My husband and I stayed at the Concho Hills Guest Ranch for our 1st anniversary. We wanted to find a place for us to relax and be able to enjoy western activities such as horseback riding and sipping a cold beer watching the sunset. Concho Hills had it all!. Not to mention - Tim and Marilyn are great hosts from their extensive knowledge of the history of New Mexico, horseback riding lessons, cooking and wonderful conversations. We can't say enough good things about this place - stop in to see for yourself. We promise it will not disappoint. Make sure you are ready for some good old Western hospitality.

My very good friend from Italy, Giovanni, has had a dream for many years....to live the life of a cowboy. So earlier this year, I set about to find the place where we could make that happen. I searched online and found many guest ranches in the west that were possibilities. We studied the sites and talked about each of them. But then I found one right here in my own back yard in New Mexico!! Just to be sure it was right, I made a trip to Concho Hills to see the place, meet the owners and the horses, and get a feel for the surrounding area and the experience that they provide. It sure looked perfect, so we booked our visit for seven nights and spent the next months anticipating and planning for the trip. We returned to my place last night and are now reliving the memories. It was absolutely perfect and the best cowboy experience Giovanni could have hoped for. Trusty horses, perfect western landscape, a wonderful variety of terrain to ride, comfortable rooms, beautiful ranch house, excellent meals, and, most importantly, fantastic hosts. Marilyn and Tim are attentive to every need and desire that their guests may have and they really make it work!!! The real icing on the cake is that Tim is a history buff and knows all that can be known about the area, the personalities and stories of the people who are legends of the west, and it all just flows from him as he guided us through arroyos, over hills, and deep into canyons.....all under the huge New Mexico sky. I can't recommend Concho Hills highly enough for a wonderful guest ranch stay. Marilyn and Tim do all that they can to personalize your adventure so that you feel like you're staying at the home of friends, rather than at a guest lodge or hotel. They get my five stars without a doubt!!!

My pre-teen daughter and I just returned from a 4 night stay at Concho Hills. The experience was amazing! Tim and Marilyn are the perfect host and hostess. They do everything they can to make your stay wonderful. Marilyn is an excellent cook and every meal was delicious. Now on to the most important subject: riding. At Concho Hills Tim teaches you how to be in control of the horse through the use of your legs and not the reins. Here you learn how to ride cowboy style. When you are proficient enough to ride out on the range you are actually encouraged NOT to ride in a single file line. When you leave Concho Hills you will have the skills to be a rider and not a passenger. There was one day when the wind was too strong for us to ride so Tim gave us a short history lesson on the ancient Indians of the area. He then took us to Pointed Rock Canyon where we scrambled among the rocks looking for ancient Indian rock shelters, arrowheads, and pottery shards. It was a fun alternative. The stunning beauty of Concho Hills provides the perfect place to get away from it all. It is so peaceful that it was a jolt to re-enter every day life again. Tim and Marilyn are such engaging hosts that when it came time to leave we felt like we were leaving family. There is much more to do at Concho Hills that with our short stay we ran out of time to experience them all. We enjoyed our experience so much that we are hoping to return again this year.

I had an amazing time at Concho Hills! Tim and Marilyn are excellent hosts and make sure you feel right at home and comfortable. The property is gorgeous, backing up to National forests, and overlooking the San Augustine plains. I enjoyed sitting down to delicious home cooked meals every day and hearing about the history of the area. On top of all this I got to ride horses every day, Concho Hills has a great selection of horses for all riders experience levels and Tim and Cole did a great job making sure i had the skills and comfort level before hitting the range. They are serious when they say these are not trail horses, you are in control and really are living the ranch experience! In addition there are so many other activities to participate in, learn to use a lasso or bullwhip, explore local historical sites, see Native American caves in the canyons nearby, see old mining sites, and learn to shoot old west style firearms. I can not express what a great, peaceful, informative and exciting experience I had, and I will be back soon!

Great experience for the brave at heart. I particularly encourage my horse-loving and horse-owner friends to avail yourself of this valuable respite. Your own horses will love you for it. I have ridden all over the world, had many experiences (good & not-so-good), this was by far the most valuable. I learned so much about riding, New Mexico history, cow-poking, and even shooting. More than a guest ranch. This is a genuine experience with genuine people, great food, great company, and excellent horses. Can't wait to go back.

The riding (including instruction and support) were top notch! There are so many places to ride free from tail to nose rides other places. Truly free to explore the plains and hills on horseback. The meals, facilities and hosts were more than excellent! You'll learn much about the horses, other activities, and western history. Nights by the fireplace or watching the stars are fabulous! Tim & Marilyn are outstanding hosts! We will be back for sure!

We had a wonderful, relaxing 8 day stay of warm hospitality by Tim and Marilyn at Concho Hills Ranch. The meals were outstanding as well as the fireside chats. The hosts made us feel so comfortable in their lovely adobe home. The location is beautiful, serene and PEACEFUL with a vast area to hike among nature like we have never experienced An added bonus are Mia and Kia the most adorable kitty and pooch! The guest accommodations were spacious, comfy and super clean. We enjoyed learning about the history, fauna and flora of the area from a very knowledgeable Tim. Thank you Marilyn and Tim for exceeding our expectations!!
