We had a leaning chimney that we contracted Old Hat Chimney to repair. Although they corrected the chimney leaning problem, they created a slew of other issues that resulted in multiple water leaks into our house after the chimney repair. The water leaks were caused by at least two problems thanks to the chimney repair: (1) They drilled holes in the roof to install scaffolding when repairing the chimney. It is understandable that holes to hold scaffolding was necessary for the chimney work, but leaving those holes unfilled and not informing us of them after the chimney repair completion was not professional and bordering on negligence. There were three holes in our roof for 3 months which lead to large water leaks from rain. (2) There was (and still is) water intrusion at the base of the chimney where it meets the roof (the chimney flashing). This Re Flashing was one of the line items on our invoice for the chimney repair - 2,650 cost; this does not seem to be working as the flashing is not keeping water out. When we requested Old Hat Chimney to come out and attempt to correct the water leaks around the chimney, they went into the attic and \saw the problem\. They proceeded to use a lot of glue to improperly install an additional chimney flashing backwards on top of the existing chimney flashing. They again did not mention the three holes in the roof (which were letting daylight in - see picture). After Old Hat Chimney performed the epair\, we still experienced water leaking from the unpatched holes and the chimney base.

Old Hat Chimney does great work. I highly recommend this Company. Their staff is very professional and the kindness folks. I will use them for my fireplace needs in the future. The pan, shroud and trim really makes the house stand out and it looks so good. This company has great prices also. Thank you for all your hard work.

Very poor customer service. Did an inspection of a fireplace. Stated it was not being utilized correctly. Didn't provide a quote for the 2 options. Emailed a few times with no response. Called, and then they sent a quote on 1 of the options, have now emailed a few more times asking for a quote on the 2nd option, with no response.

Dave, Kenny, Marcus and team were excellent. Had a major problem with chimney outside aka “leaning tower of Pisa”. Suffice it to say the original builder did a lousy job and this was becoming a major risk with a leaning chimney stack. Old Hat came out and corrected the problem through reinforcements inside the attic combined with putting in the right crown and flashing. Feel like I now have a new stack. They were prompt with their notifications and even if they were running late I would get automated notifications. They were very clean too. The owner Dave was out here the entire time. Highly recommend Old Hat for your chimney needs including major repairs.

Can’t say enough good things. I called Old Hat to repair a chimney cap on our new house that was crushed by a tree during the snow storm last winter. They did a complete inspection of the chimney and informed me the tree has done more damage and was a huge safety issue. The chimney is over my daughters room and I was so thankful for their careful inspection. They showed me pictures of everything going on, was very through and helped us work through filing a homeowners claim. They completed the indoor work while we were out of town so we wouldn’t have to deal with the noise and dust with our small kids. The finished product is beautiful and more importantly safe. I can’t recommend Old Hat enough. Honest, reliable and beautiful work.
