The McKinley Park 12th ward deserves more. There should be a federal investigation launched on the 12th ward alderman George Cardenas for accepting bribes from Otoniel “Tony” Sanchez to open up this asphalt plant. The bribes were hidden through a real estate transaction that was owned by George Cardenas’s brother. That’s how this asphalt plant was able to succeed without holding any public hearings or notifying residents in the community. And now the alderman supports the city of Chicago and its tax payers to help pay for the move of this asphalt plant. Why should the tax payers pay for this when we have underserved communities in need.

Pollution is excessive. Complaints are being heard, but no citations yet. People are trying to recover from COVID-19 and my neighbors, family and I deserve to be outside to heal without concerns of an awful smell and pollutants in McKinley park. This plan is an environmetbal injustice to children, elderly and those with asthma or other immune issues. Instead of monitoring the air and fixing what needs to be fixed, they want to cover the fumes with a cherry-scented chemical. No thanks.

Granted a permit to operate in a primarily residential area by Ald. Cardenas. The pollution across the park and into the neighborhood is terrible. There are toxic fumes regularly. They also managed to get someone to mess up traffic several times per week for their trucks on Pershing... McKinley Park residents do not support this company operating in out neighborhood without notice or input from the public.
