We had our son and daughter in the kids program for nearly two years. The Mat Chess team and facilities are phenomenal. Andrew, Sen, and Shawn are incredibly patient and passionate about passing on the sport to the next generation. Our kids learned valuable character lessons and developed great skills for self-defense and discipline for life. The connection to the coffee shop upstairs means that I could get work done if I needed or pop down and watch the kids drill and spar. Highly recommend. Great community they have built!

Andrew and his team were amazingly warm and welcoming! I am in town for the week and he let me borrow a gi and train at his wonderful facility. 2 showers!!!! Clean, polite people, would suggest to anyone! What a great group of humans.

My boys went for a FREE trial. They enjoyed themselves and the instructor was great handling the children while maintaining 6 foot distance with everyone. There was any pricing available for registering the boys at the time of the free trial but I was told I would receive a call with those prices later today. There are even classes for adults! It's worth a look/try.

I wanted to get into martial arts and I started looking around for places to try it out. I filled out my information on Mat Chess's website and got a call back with in a couple hours. I went down to the park where they are doing social distanced classes once a day, with a combination of different martial arts. The class is very well taught and a great mix of technical skills and conditioning. The first week had me very sore. There was no talk of any membership, until I brought it up at end of class on Friday. I was planning on getting a month membership on the following Monday, but then learned I was going to leave the state for work for a couple months. I called Andrew, who runs the class, and told him my situation and he said to come train even without a membership for the couple days before I left. I definitely plan on purchasing a membership once I return, and 100 percent recommend this place if you want to get in shape and learn Mixed Martial Arts!

I was traveling for work and my coach at home mentioned that his student, Andrew, teaches in Seattle. I dropped in to Mat Chess and found the environment to be incredibly welcoming. Andrew is a great teacher and his students are very skilled. Next time I am in Seattle I will be back! I highly recommend Mat Chess.
