I went on a Friday morning to get my wedding dress altered and was in and out in 10 min. I needed my dress asap. I needed the back of the dress to not have the gaping back and sleeves be shorter and to have less material. She was very kind and all for less than 70. I picked it up Saturday and was exactly what I needed. I would go back if I ever need any alterations.

I went to May's to have a shirt altered for my engagement photos. The shirt needed the straps taken in so that it lay better on my chest. When I went to drop off the shirt, I felt rushed when I was trying on the shirt for her to pin it and felt like she was ready to be done with me after just a couple minutes and move on to the next customer. When I came back to pick up my shirt, the straps were too tight and when I went to see if they could be taken out less than half an inch, I saw that the straps had been completely cut so there was no room at all for them to be let back out. While trying on for fit, I kept trying to explain to May my dissatisfaction, but she kept raising her voice at me and eventually, I ended up just paying so I could leave. The entire experience was mortifying, because she was yelling at me in front of three other customers, all of whom seemed amused as I was trying to explain what was incorrect. I left the store embarrassed, holding back tears, and feeling like I'd just thrown away money (on both the shirt and the alterations). The only redeemable thing about May's alterations was their turnaround time. For those who receive proper service, May is very quick. I ended up taking my shirt to a different tailor, to see if it was salvageable at all or if I was going to be out the 40 I'd spent on the shirt and alterations at May's. The new seamstress was furious that the straps had been chopped off, and believed that I should not have had to pay for that fact alone because my shirt straps had been ruined. Hopefully she can add elastic to them so I can wear the shirt, otherwise, I will have to find another option for my engagement photos in two weeks.
I have been using Mays for 20 yrs. I have had things hemmed up,holes fixed ,taken in,let out and clothing completely redesigned she is amazing
