As horse folks know, developing a working relationship with an equine partner frequently takes years to continuous work. Sandy has done an amazing job of helping me develop the skills needed to be a more effective leader for my horses, both on the ground and in the tack. Her caring and concern for her students and their horses is evident in her thoughtful approach to teaching and her willingness to revisit discussions even between lessons. She will email articles that she thinks might be helpful. Sandy has a gift for being able to take the students/horses where they are and can build on their strengths. After riding for several months with Sandy I participated in a jumping clinic with another instructor who had seen me a few months before my work with Sandy. The instructor could not believe the difference in the way my horse was going nor the improvement in our partnership. I have recently started learning Western Dressage and using am a borrowed horse. When I got to the first show the horse had an extremely difficult time settling in and Sandy successfully coached me through the experience. Left to my own devices I might well have left the show and given up on my new equine partner, a sensitive and high-strung Arabian X. Sandy gave me exercises to do with the horse and helped me more fully understand his likely concerns. Both the horse and I had an incredibly positive show experience, completing our tests without ado. We just completed our second show and the horse won all 4 of his classes. In 6 -8 weeks Sandy has managed to get both the horse and rider to a place where we are able to compete successfully and more importantly able to truly enjoy our relationship. Sandy has a no-nonsense manner which I value. She is compassionate but not afraid to tell you the truth even when it hurts just a little. I would highly recommend Sandy for any person wanting to learn about the way in which horses view the world and/or wanting to develop riding/relationship skills.

I only wish I’d met Sandi years ago. She’s excellent to work with. Her passion is horses and it’s obvious by the way she works with both students and horses. Her knowledge of horses is remarkable. Her professionalism and patience help build confidence in both horse and rider. I’ve owned horses most of my life and I’m comfortable handling horses and riding, but wanted to learn more so decided to take professional riding lessons. I hesitated because I didn’t want a pushy, arrogant trainer. I was riding a very ‘shy’ mare and Sandi was great. She was helpful and encouraging, explaining why and how to effectively communicate with my horse . The mare is really coming along. If I hadn’t moved out of state, I would take lessons from Sandi indefinitely. She's always available for questions. It’s great to have someone of her knowledge and experience in your corner when it comes to horses.

If I were a horse, I would “neigh” away until my person listened and hired Sandi Forester. All kidding aside, my daughter and I spent 8 fabulous years with Sandi. Beginning with an 8 yr old beginner rider and a 3 yr old green horse (I didn’t know any better, so, I hired Sandi) to our then owned awesome Arabian schooling us in dressage. During those 8 yrs we boarded with her for 2 years. The Powder Forest is a small farm with exceptional care for the horses. Sandi’s barn and horse management skills are unmatched by anyone. Her training is amazing in any discipline. Her clinics are a must see and must do! She can just look at you, your horse and your relationship and know what needs to be done to build your relationship. As your trainer and instructor, she gives you her whole heart and mind for the love of the horse!
