I hate writing bad reviews, but this office was a nightmare. All the people we dealt with were pleasant and very nice, however the way the office is organized is terrible. If you need to ask about insurance authorizations, only one person can help you with that and it takes them along time to get back to you due to them being in clinic all day, just for an example. Same thing for prescription refills, and records requests. It's so hard to just call and talk to a person! We had to wait over a week and a half for dictation to come back so we could submit it for a pre-authorization for a cortisone injection. When you are in unbearable pain, that is WAY too long!! Our appointments were always running behind, and our Dr. was short and unpleasant. We switched doctors to Dr. Reedy in Boise and everything was completely opposite. You can call and get a person right off that remembers who you are, Dr. Reedy is so personable and cares!! and is a great surgeon. I would steer clear of this office if you want to try and get results quickly.

I was a little leery at first and upset because when it came to scheduling, it was a nightmare that I had to hold their hand for to ensure everything was accurate...HOWEVER, when it came to diagnosis and procedure I couldn't have asked for a better place. During initial consult I had spoken with Jorgenson about how 3 other doctors gave me 3 other "findings" of what was wrong. He looked at all the information and was able to not only break it down to me what happened but was even willing to walk me through all the results and show me what happened. He listened to what I had already done, gave me alternatives and options and didn't let his preference sway my decision, especially since it came down to surgery being one of the options. Surgery was ultimately the option I went with based on the circumstances. He got me in right away and we scheduled the appt for 7:30 am. I was checked in the hospital by 5:45 am and I kid you not, 7:30 am on the dot he walks up to my bed, introduces himself to my husband, goes over last minute rundown of what is going to happen next then I get wheeled in for surgery. My husband was so impressed that after the surgery, he came back and not only did the "here's what you need to do now" talk, but also acted very human and friendly towards him. He acknowledged little things like gratitude after hearing my husband works graveyard shifts and hadn't been to bed yet. According to my husband, he seemed to have had this "I will take extra time and special care on your wife, I know she is important" attitude when talking to him. After all was said and done I even had a personalized "get well" card from the staff. The surgery went exactly as he said it would and my pain was gone immediately after, (minus the sore incision site of course). He really took his time and care and I am lucky to have had him as my surgeon. Hope I never need it again, but if I do I know where I am going to go.

I read the previous reviews about Dr. Sam Jorgenson, and they seem to be more critical of the Spine Institute itself rather than him. I did indeed meet and consult with him about my permanent spinal injuries. I've seen over 20 spine doctors and over a dozen chiropractors over the span of years. At first I was skeptical, because he was one of the few spine doctors that took out of state workers compensation cases that billed on the California payment schedule as required by my insurance company. Sure, I had to fill out forms, put up with rude receptionists, and sit on my ass for a long time. I already knew that was going happen though. The Spine Institute didn't even have a street sign off of its cross street! lol. However, I'm not reviewing the medical system; I'm reviewing the doctor. I found him to be polite, caring, and quite knowledgeable when I challenged him on the use of various medications and their affects. Not only did he examine me, but he also took the time to ask me what I felt about my condition and what I needed out of this mind numbing process. That's a human touch that I found as refreshing as a thirsty man finding water in the desert. At first I was obligated to see this one doctor. Now if I had my choice of all the spine doctors in Boise, I would insist on seeing him!

I was the very first patent of the day. And he was already 45 minutes late. By the time I left, his waiting room was bringing in more chairs. He had us scheduled no more than 7 minutes apart. I was there for my back. Which he could do nothing for. Was not expecting miracles, but a little bedside manner would have been nice. He was the most condescending doctor I have ever run into in all my 56 years. I will not be going back, and neither will anyone I know, if I have my say so. So just a heads up, all you read in his reviews......about being late, not getting back to you...all true. Seems the doctors from the SPINE INSTITUTE OF IDAHO are in it for the money, (as my Father was seen by another doc from there, "Manos", who never did call back and who gave a spinal shot...into the neck..side of the neck, NOT the spine.). SO YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED...

Had my lower back worked on by Dr. Jorgerson around 9 years ago (bulging disc). I was doing good for several years but .. time and wear and tear has resulted in my return for additional treatments. Had two injections with pretty good results but these are quite temporary. I now am returning for a bit more drastic measures. I am pleased with Dr. Jorgenson and am looking fordward to a permenant solution. Thanks Dr. Jorgenson and all the Spine Institute Staff.
