No trip to Miami is complete without a visit to its premier bookstore! The history of this place is amazing! The selection is great also. The staff are friendly and courteous! Make sure to go upstairs to the poetry room and while climbing the stairs read about the history of the bookstore. Check out the basement too.

Dunbar Old Books is an antiquarian mom and pop-style bookstore with various literary works on history, out of print biographies, poetry, religion, ethno-anthropology, hell, even the history of insects was a suprising find. I suppose one could consider such an old fashioned bookstore a hidden gem filled to the brim of valuable reads and collector materials for private archives and personal special collection libraries. Check it out and spend a generous amount of time perusing about the stacks. Who knows, you just might stumble upon beautiful monographs that'll spark your interest. The prices seemingly are reasonable. Rare books, ebullient and excellent!
I took 4 boxes of books to Dunbar today, all hardcover and the best were at the bottom. The old woman in a wheelchair in attendance at the time wouldn’t even look at the items, much less offer a bulk price for the 4 full boxes. Her loss.
The bookstore gets pretty busy, but it's not so crowded that it's uncomfortable. Dunbar Publishing has its own shelf prominently displayed in the front of the store and Beat Literature is located upstairs.
I like this place and always found what i was looking for. Great energy, smells good, and everyone there is super nice and friendly.
