Pheasant Branch Conservancy is a wonderful resource for residents and visitors of Dane county. It's trails and water features can provide you with hours and hours of hiking and exploring. The wildlife is great as well. The Sandhill cranes definitely take advantage of the conservancy space. There are multiple ways to access the conservancy off of and around Hwy M.

Love this place to walk with my dog, run, take pictures. Excellent for bird watching and wildlife watching. You can see the colors of the landscape and wildlife changing as seasons pass. The trails are long, some accessible (boardwalks), that majority are dirt/gravel/grass. Some trails are shaded in the woods and others go through open prairie. Have your camera ready!

We were on the north west side. This is a beautiful trail that's dog friendly provided you have them on leash. There isn't a garbage bin on trail so be sure you have a way to hold any waste. There isn't any toilets too. Incredibly nice hike.

Very well maintained paths. We visit year round, great for snowshoeing after a decent snow.
