I'm giving this place a 2 only because the young swim teachers and staff are extremely polite. The owner the older lady was extremely rude from signing in to being extremely abrasive when we were leaving. The kids were well behaved there is no reason to have such an attitude and make someone feel uncomfortable. Anyway hope things get better because the pool itself is great fun.

I live right around the corner from this place and would’ve have like to go here but after reading review on the rude old hag and the uncleanliness of the place I will pass. It should be shut down and bought out by someone who could give this small community better quality of service.
So I signed up my four year old granddaughter for swim lessons in May. I was excited for her to learn to blow bubbles and hopefully get more comfortable without her vest & putting her face in the water. I was so disheartened and disappointed with the teaching style of the teacher she had her first day, we won't be going back. My granddaughter was visibly concerned and started to cry because she was afraid. I overheard her instructor, (the older lady) say to her, "stop that crying, you are too old for that!" My heart sank - Why don't people understand that toddlers are toddlers, they are not adults! Not all children learn the same way - some need more hand holding than others. If you are trying to teach a child anything, particularly, to be comfortable in the water you need to build trust. You build trust through compassion and empathy, not fear. I think my granddaughter would have done a lot better with the younger woman that teaches there.
The hours of operation and lane availability are very convenient. No issues getting a lane during peak times. Staff is kind and pleasant. The pool is mediocre for size and cleanliness. This is the only pool I swim in where I have sand and or dirt underneath my bathing suit after swimming. I believe it is due to the "silver sneakers" underwater aerobics classes where some participants wear there outdoor shoes in the pool. They are undergoing some renovations but not to the pool or the rusted and falling ceiling at this time. The pool is dimly lit and always has music piped in to the swimming area. I would recommend increasing the low monthly dues of 40/month to pay for the much needed renovations.
I would not recommend this place .
My 3 year old started swim lessons when the season was slower. They don't have an automatic payment enrollment, so we were advised we'd be informed and asked whether we wanted to renew our time spot for the following 4 weeks or 8. Unfortunately, the front desk lacks the organization required to inform parents when their lessons have expired. We arrived recently for our regularly scheduled time only to find the front desk had given away our time slot to another child. As this is the peak of swim season, of course the class is now full. It's ridiculous that they'd put parents in the situation where they have to tell their dressed and ready to go child they can't attend swim class as per usual. The most insane part though? There were three other children who were also booked-over for our same time!!! Despite speaking with the front desk attendant and manager, I honestly don't feel like anything will change or be done to avoid a situation like this in the future. Aside from that negative experience, the classes lack any framework for which progress can be marked. There is one instructor working who has been great despite a poorly designed program (if there is a design to it at all, though it seems not). I've informed the staff and manager that of the four shower stalls in the women's locker room, only one shower has warm water. In the 2 months we attended, nothing has been done to fix this. It's a huge inconvenience to families who need to shower off and change before heading home. I have yet to find a great swim school in town, but at this point I'd rather have nothing than continue paying 9 Mile Swim School.
We would like to let every know as of March 22nd 2014 Milestone Aquatics has changed to 9 Mile Swim School. Newly renovated, Lower rates and most experienced swimming staff. Make up lessons and refunds will be allowed. Hope you enjoy the changes
Even though the membership is a little high, my wife and I have used the classes here for a number of years. After paying a six month membership in July 2012, my wife's health took a bad turn which prevented her from using the pool after the first day. On December 14th, with her medical release near, I asked the owner about deferring the unused membership. I was told "NO!" and given a 'tough times' story about how the pool still had to be maintained even with out her there and about how my own insurances funded membership didn't really pay them enough. We, like others, have decided to go elsewhere. This pool will still have to be maintained, but now there will be a few hundred dollars a year less to do it with.
