This is a great local park. We've been here quite a few times. Went for a hike with my two goldens today. On this hike we saw a deer, a hawk and three horses . Some areas of the main trail can get sketchy from natural deterioration but other than that its a great place for a hike.
Good, low key, low foot traffic trails, quite a bit of equestrian traffic. Pretty well marked, plenty of variation and options to get some good running or hiking.
The previous reviews of issues with directional signs are true, but the park is overall pretty good for a brief hike. The terrain is a mix of dirt, crushed gravel, or large woods chips. Most of the paths are wide enough for 2 people to walk side by side, and only a few areas of very narrow pathway.
Birmingham Park is definitely a well hidden secret. When I went on a Friday, there were not many crowds. Also, the park is very clean. The park does not have a paved parking lot. However, you can either park in the gravel cul de sac or the grass, if necessary. The park consists of several Trailheads. The Trails go through clearings, the forest and run adjacent to Little River. I would highly recommend this park if you are looking for a place that is not too crowded and scenic.
