It is a very nice observation deck but parking is limited. This is located along the Courtenay Parkway North. If you are coming from the north and turn off US 1 it can be a little intimidating due to the NASA restricted area signs. Keep travelling for 8 miles until you see the sign for the Manatee viewing. The turnoff will be to the east side of the road. Parking is limited to about 12 spaces. People parked along the side of the road. The viewing area is right off the parking lot less than 50 feet from the parking lot. It has a ramp for easy access. The concrete raised section is about 100 feet long looking over the river. When we were there we saw dolphins and manatees. We were there about 15 minutes and saw 1 dolphin and 5 manatees. It is a very nice observation deck but parking is limited.

A beautiful, peaceful place to visit and watch Manatees. Unfortunately it’s closed due to COVID.

It was closed and there were no manatees. However Gaultier canal is interesting to see.

We got lucky and saw several manatees relaxing at the end of the viewing deck. Some people there said they had never seen any here. We also saw the draw bridge go up so a sailboat could pass. Not bad a for a free spot. Just a bit of a drive since its in the middle of nowhere.

Manatees hang out here. There were about 15 when we visited.

I’m writing this review to let people know the site is currently closed (I’m assuming this closure is because of COVID19) hopefully it will open up again soon. I absolutely love this place! There have always been at least 5 manatees every time I have gone! And the Black Point Drive trail is only a few minutes away. If you go during the daytime you will see a ton of Florida birds and alligators on the drive! Definitely worth the trip. (The black Point Drive trail is still open btw)
