TE Studio helped us with a basement remodel and energy efficiency retrofit to our 50s-era home, and it was an overwhelmingly positive experience on many levels. First, Tim was responsive and transparent about every step of the process -- meetings, estimates, pricing, billing, construction updates, and lots more. Second, the quality of his work was terrific. His design transformed our basement into a beautiful, functional, comfortable space that we use every single day. And his deep knowledge of materials, fittings, and construction techniques ensured that our energy efficiency goals were met. Lastly, Tim provided additional value-add services, including spot-checking the construction as it proceeded, handling our last-minute changes and requests with speed and professionalism, and addressing any questions we had along the way.

TE Studios, Tim Eian designer, helped me build my Passive House in 2009-2010. My goal was to build an efficient, comfortable, sustainable, healthy, energy positive house; we succeeded on all counts! This project was my first home build, and first certified Passive House in WI and the Twin City Metro region. I had experience with many home contractors for remodel and repair work, and knew the typical issues homeowners experience with “the trades”. Tim’s experience and guidance helped immensely through a challenging process of design, build and post construction modifications. In fact, it was predominantly a pleasurable distraction while I was dealing with a difficult period in my life. I was and remain, most impressed by Tim’s knowledge, professionalism, ethical and principled approach, empathy for his clients and our environment, and communication skills. He was very direct and exceptionally honest at every step of this process. Building a house is stressful; designing one adds complexity and costs. This is not an adventure for everyone, but it was the most efficient way for me to achieve my housing goal and live my principles. I feel fortunate to have had Tim as the designer of my home.

Tim Eian and TE Studio understand that collaboration is the name of the game on any design project. Practicing Landscape Architecture, I have worked over the last six years with Tim Eian, on both personal and professional projects and always as part of the total team. He always respected and sought out the input I would have to a project. I have experienced his careful planning, establishing an interactive process so that communication was open, that it happened and every attempt to understand a clients needs occurred. This often took a long time and is very difficult. Tim, cares about what his whole team wants to accomplish. He is clear in explaining the ramifications of design solutions and changes, and always wants to have the very best aesthetic and functional response possible. Building a home is not an easy process and it takes a long time and a tremendous amount of patience and effort. I always saw Tim go the extra mile. Tim has significant expertise in architectural design, a keen aesthetic eye, a talent for bringing together a collaborative team and understands the systems and the technology he so passionately cares about. When you are seeking to build a new environmentally sound, sustainable, new home on a open site or remodel an existing home, I wouldn't hesitate to work with Tim and TE Studio.
