Beautiful park. Covid restrictions strong. Close to border. Crazy with the gov changing the laws. Built wall and open spaces. Illegals rounded up. Strict about who in park and out must have wristband. Felt safe. Beautiful and relaxing. Great bird sanitary.

Amazing place full of nature! I saw so many different types of birds, animals, plants and flowers. I highly suggest going here, you won’t regret it!

The wall construction is going on near the entrance of the park right now, but it's pretty quiet once you get past the earth moving equipment. No vehicles allowed in park so you have to walk. They say there is a tram, but I never saw one while I was there. Good place for jogging, walking and even bike rides. There are a few trails in the park, but no bikes on dirt trails, only the roads. This park is nice if you like bird watching, but if you're looking for scenic hiking trails you may want to look elsewhere. Visitor Center is currently closed due to Covid restrictions.

This was our first visit (we're new to the area), but there's a parking lot, then you cross the street to the visitor center where you pay for your passes - there's a pay online option as well, pretty convenient. Also, it seems like the annual pass is the way to go if you live in Texas; it allows for entry into all Tx State Parks. We saw people of all ages either walking or biking. We explored around the visitor center and saw a lot of animals, my kiddo loved it. Will definitely be back and better prepared.

We always enjoy spending the day at Bentsen Rio Grande Valley State Park. It's our favorite place to take the kids for a bike ride away from traffic. The Hawk Tower is unique, and the hiking trails are well maintained. Lots of nice natural areas for taking family photos. The roads are closed to personal vehicle traffic. Park near the office, pay and get your wristbands, then walk or ride bikes past the canal into the main areas of the park.
