This is a good Mitsuwa Marketplace - San Gabriel location. Given the fact that they are a chain, they do everything the same as in their other locations- which is to deliver a high end fast food experience in a modern/trendy setting. I had the Chipotle Chicken Plate during my visit here and I thought that it was great! The meat cuts were tender and of high-quality. My salad was fresh, and the side of sweet potato/rice salad was tasty.

Having lived in Japan for a year, I came here excitedly! I was very pleased to see everything but I’m not sure if it’s because of covid-19 and the logistical disruption but there was barely any stock of anything. The stuff seems to come from Japan (as in imported) so the prices are extortionate. You pay about 3x what you would in Tokyo but I understand completely. I just think 3x is a little cray. But it was nice to be reminded of my time in Japan, and seeing all of these things were nice. I’d skip the produce and get the dried food. The vegetarian gyoza is delicious here!! (In the frozen section).

This is a jewel. The steak, salads and seafood are delicious. Everything tastes fresh. The desserts are tasty as well. The ambience is warm and casual. Get there before 6pm or there could be a bit of a wait in line at the door, but it's still worth the wait.

Nice little Japanese market with fresh sushi and sandwiches for a quick meal. Fresh produce and a decent selection of beer/liquor as well.

I love this place almost as much as a hate Covid. I think it’s smaller than some of the other J- supermarkets but I’m not willing to go downtown at the moment, and I certainly am not going to have my elderly parents run around town searching for mochi. I took a gamble and thought it would be less crowded here than other places. I really appreciate how they are keeping the staff and patrons safe by limiting capacity to 15 people inside. That being said, bring a book, layer up, and bring an umbrella because it can get sunny/cold/ boring. I think I waited maybe 35-40 min to get inside, around 11:30am? I felt kind of bad for some of the senior patrons waiting for so long, but I believe they do have senior hours on Saturday. I went to go pick up stuff for ozoni soup for Japanese New Years, and was surprisingly pleased to find fresh mochi still available. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t frozen and then thawed, so I grabbed a few packs and some kamoboko from the freezer and called it a day. I heard the J-stores in West LA were sold out since the weekend, so was happy to find the items I was looking for. Thank you!
