Why are there such staggering, amazingly long lines at this place EVERY SINGLE DAY?!?! We are new to the Mobile area - and I drive by this place every day on the way to work - even at 7:00 am - every day - there are lines wrapping around this building - there are people packing the parking lot - I finally had to Google this just to see what this place was! I was shocked to see that it’s the DMV! Clearly People there is a need here that is NOT being adequately met! Why on Earth would there be such massive lines every day starting in the wee hours of the morning?!? Heaven forbid the day when I need to get a drivers license or some other type of municipal service here! This place just seems shameful! As a new Alabamian - I am embarrassed!!!

Wish I could give -5 stars. I've been here 3 hours and if my math is correct, I've got another 3 to go before they call my number. SEVERELY under staffed. One lady is literally just wandering around aimlessly, contributing nothing to the goal of this department. Pretty sure she took a 2 hour lunch at one point. I suggestyl you arrive on a weekday at least 30 minutes before they open if you don't want to waste your entire day.
The day I went to get my driver’s license transferred from another state to Alabama the time span I had to wait was not due to having a lot of people there it was that all the lines just did not have people being processed through the lines and the only line that Was really moving was the reinstatement of your license. There was no sense of urgency to process people in and out more training with time management.
They are taking every precaution to keep social distancing.
Showed up on a Friday once and it was horrible. There was a line out the door. This last time, though, I showed up on a Tuesday at 2pm and there were only like 5 customers. All of the employees were really nice too. I was actually very impressed. The staff said that the best time to go is in the Fall, during a fair, or during Mardi Gras. During those times, people are busy with other things.
