During the month of May our family lost one of the patriarchs of our family. Syreeta W. was our contact person at Gethsemane Cemetery. From our very first meeting with Syreeta, my sister and I knew the right person was taking care of us. She was not only sympathetic regarding our loss but knowledgeable of her job. She explained how everything worked and made the whole experience a lot easier on our family. She is an asset to Gethsemane. We were so impressed with her that we decided to go back to Gethsemane to take advantage of their prepayment plan offers. I know that these types of arrangements are not always on your mind, but please take the time out for the ones you leave behind.

In March my family lost a jewel very unexpected. I had no clue where to start or what to do. Honestly I was lost and arrangements lay on my husband and I hands. We knew Gethsemane would be the cemetery and we were hoping for a certain plot! From the first day I spoke with Octavia I knew we would be ok and that my family had been placed in the right hands. Octavia was able to place mom exactly where we asked beside her oldest son. I think throughout the process Octavia called or text me atleast every other day to check on me, and assure me that she would do everything possible to help us through this time!! I can honestly say she did just that. I can’t speak on an experience with anyone else because Octavia was the lady in charge for us but I can tell you that Octavia made sure that our family was taken care of through the burial process at Gethsemane and for that the Hollis Family is very thankful!!
Very disappointed and heartbroken in the process of ordering my mother’s headstone. We spoke with a counselor Ronald to go over the final details of the headstone and paid CASH is full for it in the beginning of May. We patiently waited the allotted time only to find out the order had NEVER BEEN SUBMITTED!! So around Mid July I called and spoke with a different employee due to our counselor Ronald not being there and after being placed on hold multiple times she apologized and assured that she could place a “10 day rush” on the order but could not guarantee that it would make it here in 10 days. We were then given a date in August that the headstone should be there but could not guarantee that it would be placed then due to multiple other services that day and threat of bad weather. Here we are in the beginning of September and guess what, still not headstone!! This has been nothing but a headache of devastation and frustration upon my family due to the careless nature of how our family's loved one final arrangement was handled. Beware!!
This cemetery is so well kept and Mrs. Octavia is so sweet and very compassionate. She understands what you're going through in your grieving process and try to make it as easy as she possibly can.
