By the blessing of God, I been there about five times. I have stayed there for a long weekend twice. It is, indeed, a Blessing in my life and always will be. Just beautiful, rugged country and wonderful people. I hope to do it again. It is and always will be a Blessing. I hope and pray that I can return. God bless the Monastery and all who live there. Worth the drive on the one lane dirt road. After driving 13 miles, which took about 45 minutes. I was happy that I didn't give up at mile marker 5 and turn around. There's a peaceful atmosphere that is worth the drive.

The most remote Christian monastery in the western atmosphere. A beautiful drive along the Rio Chama after driving past the amazing Ghost Ranch area. A beautiful mass.

The 13 miles of driving narrow dirt roads with loads of curves through the mountains is well worth it. You can not be in a rush for this trip and will take a minimum of 2 hours. But it is well worth it for the beauty and peaceful atmosphere at the monastery and on the drive

I have been a week-long guest here many times. Nothing compares. The region is especially beautiful in September and October when the cottonwoods along the Chama turn gold and look like veritable burning bushes. Accommodations are less spartan than they used to be but are still appropriately simple. Expect no cell service. A computer in the guest area is available for checking flight info and such. Come for a day or stay at length. You will return to the world a different, better person.
