Our daughter thrived at Montgomery School. They instilled a love of learning in her that is still with her today in high school. Each teacher knew her and challenged her. The emphasis on public speaking in all grades is originally what attracted us to the school, and now I can say that the teachers, the academics, the great opportunities to try different sports and also the emphasis on the arts are all reasons that we love Montgomery. The school's focus in character shows through in all aspects of the school. And I must add - the beautiful campus that they use as an extension of their science program is amazing. The students get fresh air during the day and really enjoy the open space. Wish I could have gone there!!

My husband and I loved the idea of our son going to Montgomery. Many of the staff and faculty seemed wonderful, great teacher to student ratio, and a sense of community . Unfortunately, within a couple months we realized that Montgomery was not a good school for our son. Many of the kids had known each other for years and since it was such a small school my son was excluded. Socially I would describe him as middle of the road...he's not one of the cool kids but he also doesn't struggle socially. At least he didn't until going there. On top of not fitting in, none of the standards were being taught. The teacher spent most of the time on social studies. There were no reading groups, which easier could have been brought into their social studies unit and she barely touchrd on math standards. After months of our son crying prior to school we finally decided to place him back in the public school. Of course we lost all our tuition but he is so much happier and has several friends in his new class. He is behind academically now but we are working with him after school to hopefully catch him up. Regardless, I'm so happy we pulled him out. I know that many kids thrive socially at Montgomery, but I can tell you it was not a good fit for our son. If you do decide to place your kids there, I suggest having them start in kindergarten instead of waiting to the later grades.

So we only had around 5 months at the school before we withdrew our 4 year old. Going in we were so excited about sending our child to a school with a beautiful campus and at first an apparently decent curriculum. As the school year progressed it became apparent that the school was unable to deal with high energy children. By the time they introduced a school counselor (who was wonderful) the school seemed to have placed a predetermination on who our four year old was and treated him accordingly. The parents that we met were great and so are the kids. Unfortunately the school was not a right fit for our son and family.

As an educator, I am passionate about interactive education and the power of positive learning in small class sizes. This vision of education led our family to Montgomery School's community in 5th grade. Montgomery School faculty and administration are committed to engaging students to find joy in learning, explore interests, and share knowledge using integrated technology and public-speaking. These experiences create confident individuals ready to succeed, and make a difference. Our son flourishes in Montgomery's focus areas: academics, character building, arts and athletics. He is inspired to think collaboratively in small class sizes as teachers blend technology, core teaching and experiential learning opportunities. He is encouraged to act with respect, compassion and sincerity, think creatively in music and arts, and play athletics with passion and good sportsmanship. The entire Montgomery community is dedicated to nurturing the physical and emotional development of their students. They recognize the importance of nutrition (delicious hot lunches or salad bar shared at cross grade round tables) and exercise (yes, recess still exists even in middle school). Perhaps my son's words written in a recent reflection are the most fitting...\Montgomery School challenges and inspires me to be a better person.\ Thank you Montgomery School for inspiring our son.

Moving our children from public school was a challenging decision but once we settled into Montgomery School, we knew right away it was the very best choice we could have made for them. They are offered with a balance of strong and creative academics, individualized instruction and consistent attention to strong character development.
