My husband and I lived on base for 3 years. Our overall experience with The housing office was poor. For starters they automatically take with dependent rate bah from you, even if you don’t have children. We don’t have children so we felt it was a ripoff, but there’s not a lot of other housing options off base so we just stayed where we were. The next thing that occurred was while going through the process of moving out. We were misinformed by an employee at the housing office that we had to pay to have our carpets professionally cleaned before moving out and that they must look exactly as they had looked when we had moved in 3 years prior. Which is unrealistic in general. People have kids and pets and carpet gets dirty over time. We found out later the info was inaccurate due to the fact that the carpet had been in the house for over 5 years and would be replaced automatically with no charge to us. We even stated this to the representative and were still told we had to drop 200 on carpets that would be replaced anyway. We were then told by a different employee after moving out that we 100% did not have to pay for the carpets to be cleaned and were told the only way to get our money back was to try to talk to the carpet cleaners and explain the situation that “they” put us in. They also charge an insane amount of money for landscaping in the backyards. They will literally charge you for a small patch of grass missing, even if it’s winter time and the grass is dead as it is. Our backyard did need a little work, mostly just some mulch that needed to be replaced and a couple areas reseeded, but they still charged us over 750 just for yard work that wasn’t even close to being worth that cost. Just a warning for anyone living on base. They will charge you outrageous amounts for the silliest little things with fee’s left and right, for even just small amounts of dust on shelves in the garage.

I have had countless issues with my house on base, to the point where it’s really getting old. I explained to Candace over the phone that I enjoy living on base and I only want to say good things about the house but Im always proven wrong. My house has had an overflowing toilet, water damage from the water heater that always spills water, mold in the air vents, earwig infestation in my house due to the dampness & mold. I’m so disappointed, when I explained to her over the phone that this all happened she seemed understanding but we couldn’t move forward. She then told me “you know you’re not required to live on base?” Like I am stupid. Horrible customer service. I wish I would have just listened to the people who told me & my husband not to live on base. don’t do it. Management was somewhat friendly, although interrupted me when I was trying to explain my situation. I’m just very disappointed. Wish there was more understanding & friendly customer service. We’re basically stuck in this house until December, unless we break our lease which would result in us losing one month BAH, which we can’t afford. Thanks Balfour Beatty. I added a picture of the mold on my air vent.

Good luck trying to get ahold of them. They rarely answer the phone.

When calling about heater not working with children. Response is \ only thing we can do is send another message\. Over three hours still no attempt to come out. Constantly submiting the same maintenance request for heat and only quick fixes are done.

We lived in Trinity Heights for a little over three years and just had our move out inspection today. The maintenance office always did a decent job with maintenance calls while we lived there, with the exception of exterior siding damage, which as I understand it was outside of their control due to the work being sub-contracted. Maintenance guy named John is THE MAN. He always goes the extra mile. Yard work in the front could have been better, but again sub-contracted to Tripl T (another story altogether...). We were stressing out about the final inspection because of all the horrible stories we'd heard, so we put a bit more effort into cleaning than we usually do when we move. We've always gotten our full deposit back after six military moves. The inspection went really smoothly and the inspector couldn't have been more reasonable. I can only surmise that the horror stories come from people who don't take care of their houses. Funny thing is that the inspector shared quite a few horror stories about awful tenants, and knowing some peoples' habits, I don't doubt her. Some tips to do well on inspection day: -Clean your house. -Don't be a jerk. -Don't live like an animal for the duration of your assignment and then be surprised when your inspection doesn't go well. All in all, I would definitely recommend living on base. Quiet, safe neighborhoods, friendly neighbors, short drive to work, and BB isn't the boogeyman people make them out to be.
