The Salinas Pueblo Missions were a great day trip from Albuquerque. They are well maintained, with friendly and knowledgeable rangers. Easy walking and easy to social distance, during Covid. We went in early Spring, which was good timing. There is not a lot of shade. The ruins are impressive, though the history sad. Planning, timing is important if you want to do all three, based on hours of operation, a slightly confusing drive, and minimal facilities. It is not Disneyland, but a good getaway for a day.

Nice example of European architecture brought to the nomadic people living in the area at the time. Less impressive than I had hoped for but worth stopping in if your out that way. Definitely wouldn't consider it worthy of a detour from I40 down that far.

The history is interesting. The weekends are busy. I was there Friday and I saw only a few people. It's a great place to take pictures and view the scenery of the Monzano mountains.

Nice place to visit; short and nice walk, clean, with nice paths. The signs are informative, and the person who greeted us was very nice. The ruins were interesting and beautiful. I am glad we could bring our dogs as long as they were leashed and we cleaned up after them

More structure left in these ruins than others in the area. Love learning about the past inhabitants of our country.

We are full-time RVers and also working as we travel. On our way from Las Cruces to Santa Fe in New Mexico, we stopped at the Abo ruins. It is yet another place where the European culture (in the form of Catholic friars) overlaid the native culture. Nor were they the first. The Tompiro, probably the first to settle in the area, facilitated trade between the Pueblo to the west in the Rio Grande valley and the plains Indians to the east. The Pueblo became more dominant in the area, followed by the Europeans, only to be wiped out by the Apache and drought. The place is peaceful, and one can almost feel the history surrounding you. People there don't appear to be in a rush, rather taking in the ruins around them. Another small gem that lets Americans (and others) learn more about our past.

Abo ruins was a beautiful stop. We drive from Albuquerque for a day trip. There are two rides to get there, one in each side of the mountains. I would recommend heading east on I-40 and driving the evening highway. It is beautiful. You pass small towns, pretty mountain scenery than you drive out into the flat empty New Mexico country side. Abo is an old mission. The self guided walking tour is easy and informative. The scenery is gorgeous. The mission is a great backdrop for pictures. I would highly recommend visiting this mission.

It was great. There wasn't anybody there except me,my daughter, and my husband. It's a fairly easy 1/2 mile trail that anyone whom is healthy could easily walk it. Although it was sort of hard for me because of my multiple sclerosis, I was able to finish it in about an hour.
