Went for an astronomy weekend; of course it was cloudy the whole time. But this was nothing compared to the humorless, uptight members who made me want to get out of there as quickly as possible. I understand that we had to participate in \monastic\ duties - cleaning, office work, etc. After all, they get free labor. No problem. I was assigned to the Xerox machine which wasn't working; so much for that. All in all, not a good experience.

I have heartfelt appreciation that I have found this place. They are open to newcomers, supportive and offer dharma teachings that don't discriminate based on ability to pay. They are always working on improving, adapting, and listening to the needs of the lay community. In a constantly evolving world, they are there to offer guidance to anyone who seeks it. The place is a rare gem in today's world.

Some of the most prolific and well-designed rock formations of the last few centuries in Upstate New York. It's such a pleasure to be employed to frequently deliver to such a magnificently beautiful place, and it's ancient manner.

I was really expecting to be trained on how to meditate and find out about techniques to help me meditate more deeply. There is too much emphasis on the Buddhist rituals and it is way too heavy on the history and teachings of Buddhism and not really much on the actual techniques for meditation. If you want to explore Zen Buddhism then it’s great but I would pass if your looking for someplace to learn hot to meditate.

I went for the Christmas holiday dinner. I had a lovely time. The food was great. And the hospitality was awesome.
