Invaluable resource for preserving the past and advancing the cultures of five important tribes into the future. It’s hard to explain removal and boarding schools to my kids sitting cozy in Florida. Being here on the land, surrounded by the artifacts and maps—as well as seeing contemporary artists grapple with memory and Native life today—made it a lot easier to pass on this knowledge. The nice lady welcoming them as Native children was especially meaningful. I doubt they’ll ever forget it. It’s a nice little collection. We could have spent more time (probably max 90 min) but a quick 30 min trip through what caught their 8 year old eyes was perfect. Picked up a nice print in the gift shop too! This place deserves support and lots of visitors.

We have been touring Oklahoma museums and this has been my favorite one so far! Sean was our guide and he did an amazing job. He shared great stories, interesting facts and kept our parents and students engaged. This is a must-do for your Oklahoma experience!
Very interesting. Very educational and eye-opening. Walked from the Boomarang restaurant to the museum beautiful walk only a 2-mile round trip
Traveling with the Tulsa Creek indian community center today. Eight of us traveled to Honey Creek battlefield near Checota, OK. From there we drove back to Muskogee to Three Rivers Museum in downtown Muskogee. It was nice, a lot larger than it looked from the outside. Mostly early Muskogee artifacts plus a lot of Indian heritage arts and lore. Then on to the Five Civilized Tribes Museum near Honor Heights Park, by the Veterans Hospital. This was the one we came to see. It was filled with Five Civilized Tribes relics and artifacts on the 1st floor with a few pieces of art. Then we went to the 2nd floor. There was a art exhibit to see and paintings by well known artists and some by contemporary artists. It was great. If you're interested in Oklahoma Indian history, this is one of the places you should visit. It was a good day for 8 seventy and eighty year old youngsters. We all loved it.
