This place is amazing! Yes, they carry lots of SCUBA gear but it's the people that make this place truly stand out. I met the owner through a mutual friend that knew I wanted to get certified. Rob and the entire staff were not only courteous, they were very knowledgeable and even kept me from buying items I didn't need, while also pointing me to items that were cheaper and simpler for my entry into this lifestyle. I do a lot of research before I buy gear. The staff saw my enthusiasm and lack of real knowledge and met me with a smile and a lot of patience. Even when I would call randomly about things I had no business even knowing (can I use this regulator on Trimix as an example). In the end, not only did I take my open water certification with them, I did my Nitrox as well and will be doing as many classes as I can with them. I have a few other places I can go that are far closer, but it's the staff and their willingness to steer you right, not most profitable, that makes Island Hoppers my favorite dive shop.

I completed their PADI Open Water Diver course yesterday and the experience was great. The course was planned very well, the instructors were thorough and pleasant, and the price was good. Most importantly though, I left feeling competent and having a deep understanding of the various principles and skills used in scuba diving, despite beginning the course as a complete novice. Also, the shop is conveniently located and the prices are great. I hope to go on one of their international dive trips soon. Good work Island Hoppers, highly recommend.
