Derick is an outstanding teacher. Before beginning lessons with him I had played for more than twenty years but hadn't progressed much further than strumming along to my favorite songs. Within a few months Derick had me playing at a level I never thought I would reach. I can now actually impress friends with my playing instead of being terrified when someone hands me a guitar! He has catered our lessons to my playing style and music preferences and has done a good job of balancing both music theory and "feel." For those of you who cringe at the mere mention of the word theory (I was one of you), Derick will actually show you how it helps you understand and appreciate music more. Highly recommended.
