I will never be returning here for any reason. Food: 4.5/5 The food was very good, however, it took 1hr 20min for it to arrive. I had the full rack which was delicious. Other's in my party had the pulled pork which was also decent but came in a very small portion. Beer: 0.5/5 I've had hundreds of local Colorado craft brews and this is by far the worst beer I've had. Had it not been skunked and very stale it might have been half decent. Waitstaff Service: 2.5/5 The service might have been better had the waitresses/hostesses not been stoned out of their minds. I get it, it's a small mountain town but don't get high at work. Kitchen Service: 0.5/5 There is no excuse for food to take 1hr 20min to get to the table. We had 3 orders of pulled pork and 2 orders of ribs. It takes a very short time to heat those up and place the sides on the dish, however it still took well over an hour to prepare. Overall: 1/5 The waitress was apologetic and gave us 25% off and comped one of our 5 dishes, as well as giving us 3/6 of our beers for free. It was a nice gesture but we had no idea it'd take almost 2 hours to dine at this establishment.

My daughter, son and 2 grandchildren arrived at this restaurant on Wed, Oct 2nd at 1:15 PM. We ordered prepared food – no special orders - pulled pork, beans, mashed potatoes and coleslaw. We should’ve had our food in 15 minutes or less. Instead, we were finally served 1 hour and 15 minutes later at 2:30 PM! My daughter saw another customer complaining that he had been waiting 1 hour for his food. This extremely slow service was unacceptable. She wanted to try this restaurant on our trip to see the Aspens along the Peak to Peak. If she wasn’t with us, my son and I would have left after 30 minutes and found another place to eat! In addition, the food was mediocre. The pulled pork was good. The beans were tasty but too dry, the coleslaw had barely any dressing on it and I was told that the potatoes were cold. Their mildest BBQ sauce wasn’t very good, unless one likes an overpowering taste of vinegar. My suggestion for them is to create a sweeter and also a thicker BBQ sauce and decrease the vinegar, or offer a bottled variety made by another food company. This is a negative critique of Wild Mountain Smokehouse, but I hope they can accept it as constructive criticism. I had intended to personally send them this info, but their website doesn't allow comments!
THE ABSOLUTE BEST WINGS EVER!!!! They are smoked then dipped in Buffalo sauce. Last I heard this place has been acquired by new owners so I am not sure if they still have the same wings or not. Hopefully they do so I can get them again when I go back to Colorado on another vacation
Slight wait on Labor Day evening (\u003c 15 minutes) got my appetite truly craving BBQ. The Potato Pancake appetizer was an interesting combination of flavors (potatoes with parsley, horseradish sauce and smoked salmon) and was actually better than the entree. While the concept of serving dry meat with a sauce on the side allows for considerable customization on how much sauce you have on your BBQ, I would have preferred that the meat have been cooked in the sauce to truly saturate in the flavor. Of course, this would depend on the sauce being good. I tried three of the mild sauces (Texas, Memphis and Mustard) and found them to have WAAAAAY too much vinegar. The meat, by itself, was relatively tender but the sauce is crucial for a BBQ restaurant.
After nine years in Texas, I can get a little suspicious of anyplace claiming good barbecue, and I gotta say, anyone used to more traditional approaches would be _extra_ suspicious of the arty food-presentation here. The carefully-arranged piles are very much the opposite of the "plain white plate and white bread from a bag" approach used throughout the southern states. In short, it looks like fake yuppie food, like pretentious Boulder-style, right from the get-go. And that _usually_ means bad food, at triple the price of good food. But then, such a suspicious person would taste it, and that should shut them right up, because they'd be busy eating and making happy noises. The meat was amazing, the sides were amazing (even if they were artfully stacked under the meat instead of being on the side, as one might expect from the word "side"). The house take on the traditional sauce was a surprising and exciting blend of spice and citrus flavors. The service was friendly and teamworky. The place itself was nice (and packed). So ... very happy we ate here. And we'll happily return whenever we can.
Firstly, their customer service has always been great; we haven't been let down. Secondly, there wings with their homemade BBQ sauce are amazing! It's smoked then finished off on the grill. We had them with a basket of sweet potato fries and they were some of the best wings I've had. If Buffalo Wild Wings were smart, they'd do the same thing.
Horrible, Horrible service!! Food was good but it took over 20 minutes to get just a water and the server was very very rude. Said its a small restaurant and they were busy. We go to small restaurants all the time and we aren't treated like this. They added 18% gratuity to our bill and he didn't deserve it all. We use to love this restaurant but we will never return due to the service. Horrible horrible horrible!! Don't waste your time! Slow service is fine but not rude service!!! Go elsewhere!!
