Personally I am not a huge fan of Modern Art but the New Museum with its current exhibition of Grief and Grievance is different. Very interesting. Definitely worth checking out!

I would’ve given this exhibit a 5 star only if the staff wasn’t so unfriendly! So sad to say this place was truly inspiring and I learned a lot but the staff just left a horrible taste in my mouth . Again , not all but most of them were rude and at one point my boyfriend and I were going to leave without even finishing the exhibit Otherwise very well presented

The process of purchasing the free Thursday tickets is a bit misleading. If you accidentally forget to put the number of tickets (even after choosing date and time!) the ticket won't be yours and you won't be able to come in. You will be charged for donation, though! It's not user friendly - to make someone choose date and time for visit and assume they didn't want to buy the tickets... While we were trying to figure out what to do when one of us is not allowed to come in (reason described above), we were kicked out of the building not in a polite way. Also, rude screaming guard. The experience was spoiled anyway, but the art collection was also not very impressive.

I find the New Museum generally unfriendly, but its new show, “Grief and Grievance: Art and Mourning in America,” fills every floor of the small, vertical building with an emotional, challenging, and timely exhibition. See it. Don’t miss Arthur Jafa’s amazing video installation, “Love Is the Message, The Message Is Death,” on the ground floor. Rashid Jobnson’s “Antigone’s Organ” on the top floor is also a highlight. Book advance tickets. The cafe is currently closed.

Very recommended museum. The building is impressive for its shape (and view from the balconies at the 7th floor). Staff is super friendly and helpful. The exhibitions are very different from other places. There are in-depth expositions of two American, non-mainstream artists that fit very well with the current wave of diverse and inclusive art. It really supplements the museum offer in NYC. Something that will make you think. (Also nice: no entrance fee :) )

I always like to visit a modern arts museum, even if I don’t get everything on display. Honestly mostly the works in this museum turned out to be not my cup of tea, but still it was an exciting, inspiring visit. I still could find something I liked, and the building itself is interesting. So, no disappointment)
