I started to research the history fo the statues and monuments in New Orleans to fully understand what they mean. I have come to a couple of conclusions, the first the full intent of the statues was to remind African Americans that the White Americans were in charge after the war. Moreover, some say that it a repersentation of what P.G.T Beauregard, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis. If it was to memorize these men, who were good people in the sense of them fighting for what they wanted, then in a sense we are signifiying white supremacy and racism. The reason being is because the within the first two lines of every document the confederate states listed for leaving was slavery. Meaning that these men no matter what enforce us to memorize slavery. Moreover, regarding the preservation of our history, I would argue that as a white male myself, I never saw the statues as a mark of history and discussion. I would say that the motion to remove the statue starts more discussion than previous before. I would also say that justice in this case is literally priceless than any sort of presevation of a racist monument. Also, I think the history of making the wrongs of yesteryear right is greater in history than memorizing racist war leaders. I would also contend that slavery, what this staues teaches us to do, would never occur again given the fact that the country litereally has laws that prevents any sort of slavery from happening again. It is for these reasons of upholding justice and equality and righting the wrongs of yesteryear is more important than remembering history that is so great that we won't forget it. Also, the movement for the removal creates more talk of the history of the statues than what they created before

This statue was an important part of history and further educated people to never repeat the past.

The statue is an imposition and it’s disrespectful to its citizenry. I won’t be coming back to New Orleans unless and until it’s removed.

I can understand how people want to deal with history but however this is a symbol of white superiority and needed to be removed as it enables those on the far left side of the spectrum. The longer the statue would have stood the more the BLM SJW's would have some kind of argument.

If Nancy Pelosi led an army to separate Colorado, Arizona, and California and all its mines, bases, and monuments from the US should we build a monument or a noose. She would be treasonous not a patriot.
