History of New Orleans pitstop This Spanish building houses a wonderful museum that features unique tidbits of New Orleans history from the city's inception to the Reconstruction era. It was destroyed in the 1788 fire and rebuilt in the late 1790s. The Louisiana Purchase was signed here in 1803. The marble stairs are so well used there are \dips\ in them from foot traffic! Beautiful and informative.

As a wedding/event professional in the New Orleans area we always enjoy our time at the Cabildo. Great staff to work with, and a beautiful space to create fun experiences for clients who are local or travel in for a destination wedding or event! Highly recommended!
Good little museum. Nicely focused on local history and better than average collection of items. Great descriptions on all items, and some very unique things as well! A must see while in New Orleans.
This museum is a catch-all for New Orleans history. Our favorite exhibit was on the Battle of New Orleans and the War of 1812. We went on a Saturday around 1pm and very few people were here so not busy. The ticket price was pretty cheap.
Great museum in the heart of everything! Very reasonable prices too! Local history back to Napoleon and much more!
