This place is terrible. I've called so many agents and was referred to this place. I called in seeking help just to get the run around. Everytime I was given a number I was told to call another number. After many organizations repeatedly mentioned this program and how they can help me recieve a housing voucher. I called and I left a message on the answering machine and received a call back only to be told they dont offer emergency housing only space for shelters. After being down on my luck I decided I had no other choice so I asked for assistance to be placed in a shelter until I could get help. This person told me they needed to know the exact place where my car was parked to verify that I was homeless as if being homeless with kids isnt mortifying and embarrassing enough. I decided to just stay in my car. I've been homeless in my car for almost 2 months. These places receive all of this federal funding and statewide funding and they dont lookout for their citizens. We were homeless during hurricane zeta with no where to go. I know at least 3 people that recieved housing vouchers and they aren't homeless and had family they could stay with. We are genuinely down on our luck and their turning their backs like we dont matter this is wrong.

I have worked closely with this organization. Everyone is so dedicated and committed about ending homelessness and passionate about helping others. The services that Unity provides is sooooo needed! I encourage everyone to support Unity and support the cause!

If there were minus stars they would get 20. Typical, they like the Federal and State funding, but don't really help anybody. They told me and my daughter they didn't do housing vouchers anymore. I talked to a few people after that who said they got housing through them. Update. July 2020. No word. These people are as useless as hits on a boar hog.

I have went to Unity several times out of my life and they never could help. The only thing they ever did was give me a paper with resources. Considering that you have to go through them to be admitted into any homeless shelter is mind boggling to me. You have to be literally on the street for them to help you. They state that they help \at risk\ and/or homeless people, but that is far from the truth. They will only help if you are on the streets and I could never do that with my son. To make a long story short, if you're a single parent in a bad situation, they will not help. They'll ask you some questions, give you a paper with resources and send you on your way. When you call the resources, there will be nothing available. New Orleans is corrupt. Also, whomever the lady is that answers the phone in the morning-mid afternoon time is rude, snappy, quick and has no phone etiquette what so ever, but this is the type of ignorant people that New Orleans businesses love to hire.

This location is Unity's business office. I was sent over to 2407 Barronne St. To fill out an application for housing. Staff was helpful but brisk.
