Da Yu is one of my favorite hot pot joints! When they first opened, I probably went once a week because I liked it so much. The pots are also very visually appealing.

This was a great cultural experience, I believe this method of eating is traditional in China. It was really fun to experience it. You get different types of meat, veggies, and mushrooms on the side, and you boil them in two different broths. It's really fun, but I can see how this is probably not for everyone.

Da Yu Hotpot is surprisingly large with two floors of dining space. The decor is modern but luxurious. There are lots of semi private booths, one or two VIP rooms, open concept kitchen in the lower level, small bar by the front entrance and a sauce bar on each floor. Their sauce bar has a lot of options for creating your own dipping sauce. For those who don't know what they are doing or are overwhelmed by all the ingredients, they have recipes on the wall to help you. The sauce bar also has complimentary unlimited fruit, kimchi and cooked peanuts. Da Yu is not a communal hotpot place where the table shares one big pot but rather individual pots for each person. I highly recommend the mushroom broth which was so flavorful as a soup base. As for the food, we definitely ordered way too much but everything was excellent. The thinly cut wagyu beef was one of my favorite items we ordered. It was melt in your mouth, buttery goodness. The seafood options were also very good. I was amazed by how large the tiger pawns were. And their shrimp paste dish had nice chunks of shrimp in it and when cooked was so sweet. The mushroom basket had really excellent varieties of mushrooms. They also have a few cooked items on the menu, one of which is scallion pancakes. The scallion pancake was nice and thin. It's not as doughy as I'm used to and is more delicate and crunchy in texture. As for drinks, I really enjoyed the plum juice blend. It was so refreshing and paired well with all the heat from the Hotpot. I must note that I also really appreciated the effort in the presentation made of each dish. Quality ingredients presented well in this kind of restaurant setting makes for a great meal.

What a fun time mixing your sauces and attending to your personal hot pot. Lots of choices, even for vegetarians. Bring some friends.

This is a good place to take your family or friends to have a hotpot experience in China town. It is organized, clean, very well distributed and decorated. It has very nice rooms specially the VIPs and the preparation of food and broths is very neat. P.s: it is B.Y.O.B so you can bring your own soju, wine or favorite drink.

I hosted a large group Chinese New Year Lunch there and it was the best experience ever! Icy, our server, was super attentive. She not only gave great suggestions on how much we should order, but also help us work out the bill so we reach minimal without overspending/eating. The private room v1 and v2 are huge with nice decor and very posh look. The pots are individual and easy to attain to everyone's dietary restrictions. BYOB was huge plus too :) Highly recommend for large group outing but just make sure you make reservation in advance!
