Good Morning I have worked in social services for more than 15 years and the system is broken. I do not work for any social service agency including the department of homeless services. DHS/ AFIC fail to adhere to DSS directives. They abuse and neglect families whenever possible. AFIC has a 30 percent eligibility rate, denying 70 percent of adult families and plunging them further into a bad situation. Albany ordered them to reverse the DHS decision and force them to accept our application and find us eligible. DHS doesn't help homeless families they neglect them then lie when they've been caught.
Last year I attended the graduation ceremony for seniors going to college. There was a very RUDE blonde woman sitting at the desk checking people in and if you did not sign the waiver for photo release and ect... she said to me \then he can't come in and get the laptop.\ She ran around with a few other higher ups and she was very rude towards some of her peers.
I was going to ask for little help from DHS but upon checking the reviews and emotions of people on how the staff is and how the system is running i feel like those people should be helped way before me and how come such a important department has fallen below 2 stars on google there has to be a reason for this many people to write a bad review i honestly haven't ask for any help yet and i will never this is crazy this is Newyork i should've never left my country and come to NY and deal with this much unfair practices Mayor is just trying to make more money and more homeless GOD BLESS AMERICA and good luck people GOD will help you better then anyone else can.
If I can rate a zero that's exactly what I would give dept of homeless. Even though I have to much pride to do this I'm starting to understand why so many people sleep in the streets. I have begged 33 beaver street numerous times to be transferred. They are not transferring me. What's worse is I had a fight at my shelter with an arrest, and I still wasn't transferred. Dept of homeless sucks
