This place is way overpriced. Taking advantage of being in the city and overcharging customers. I can easily order things on amazon. Some of the staff are not friendly or helpful.

If I could give this place more than five stars, I would. They are the best. They are one of the few places in the East Village, where they greet you, by name, and are genuinely happy to see you. I owned a painting company, and this was the only hardware store I used, for paint and other supplies. They are super helpful, and knowledgable, so if you have a question, just ask them. They will help you, I promise. They are a Benjamin Moore retailer, and in 3 years I purchased roughly 1,500 gallons of paint from them - ALL PERFECTLY TINTED. (Which is a big deal - trust me.) They can color match anything. Want proof? A few weeks ago, I asked them to match a piece of plaster from my ceiling that was less than 2\x1\ and falling apart.. Less than ten minutes later, I had two buckets of paint, perfectly matched to my ceiling color, and they named the paint color after me. Jealous? If you are, you should go buy a gallon of custom color paint too. Honestly I love this place, and think it’s great they are still family owned and still in the same location. ️

Mixed feelings. They're helpful enough if asked, and give you room to look around, but the price you'll get charged at the register likely won't match their website or the shelf tag, which is a deal breaker in my book. I tried to buy 2 things, one was 20 dollars (50%) more than the website, the other was 10 (100%) more than the shelf tag, and no one seemed concerned they were advertising the wrong prices. There's a reason Amazon is winning! Perhaps another hardware store in the area will be better...?

In a world of big box paint and hardware stores H Brickman and Sons stands out. From knowledgeable and friendly staff the store gives you that local mom and pop feeling. Reasonable pricing and superior customer service, especially from Rodney make this store a true gem in the cold, bland world of super retailers.

Come here to buy some painting equipment and struggled to get someone to help me. I heard an employee asking someone in the aisle next to me if they needed help and that customer declined. So I was going to ask for help when the employee reached my aisle. Disappointingly, when I saw him at my aisle and asked if he works here, he looked me straight in the eye and walked away. Not a good feeling and can’t help but it wonder if it was cause I’m Asian. After all, it’s not the first time I’ve face these micro-aggressions. My boyfriend tried to get someone to help us but couldn’t find anyone. We ended up figuring it out ourselves. Convienent location but experience left a bad taste in my mouth. The only nice person to us in the store was the cashier so shoutout to her.
