JG Melon is amazing. You can probably find I NYC tons of burgers with a lot of hype or gimmicks surrounding them but this is not it. JG Melon’s burger is great all on its own. No special condiment, sides or topping, just high quality ingredients that match amazingly together. What’s also great is that the it’s all so reasonably priced. Finally, I cannot recommend enough the apple pie and the key lime pie - AMAZING! Please, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a great cheat meal here.
I found out about this place from a YouTube video of some Argentinians visiting the most famous burger spots in NYC. This place was only a 30 minute walk away, so I decided to give it a try. I have no complaints, I see why this place is well known and I told my waiter the same. I went with my partner and we each ordered cheeseburgers and split the fried potatoes. Everything was delicious. My partner studied gastronomy and is often very critical of food and even he enjoyed it. We got our burgers well done. They were very juicy. The potatoes were also good. Again, I have no complaints about the food or service and I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family in the area.
Nice, old school, friendly place. A bit overrated though. It was covered on YouTube's The Burger Show S4E6 as being one of the 2 best burger joints in NYC. It was very good, not amazing. If you're looking for nostalgia you'll love it. If you're actually looking for an amazing burger, skip this place.
